About the person

I first got in touch with horses when vaulting at the riding club in my town at the age of 7 or 8. I didn`t like vaulting but I had great liking for the horses.

When I was 9 years old, a farmer from nearby where I lived put me on a Norweger (Norwegian pony) without saddle, just with rope and halter. Within minutes I trotted and cantered up hills – my mother watching from the distance having faint attacks. From that day, I enjoyed nothing more than being around horses and riding.

Only few weeks past and I got my first own pony Anja – white as snow with pinkish coloured muzzle and eyes. Not too pretty but with lovely character.

A riding lesson once a week was a must by my parents. Gallopping through woods and over fields, building up self made jumping courses and participating at the pony – games taking place once a year, were my highlight and idea of fun.

At the age of 12 my family and I moved to Edmonton, Alberta in Canada.

For my 13 th birthday I got the 4 year old thoroughbred gelding Taylor. With him I participated in hunter classes which was great fun. Basic dressage tests I entered just for fun and won them in series.

When I was 16 years old I moved back to Germany and made a three year business apprenticeship in my hometown Reichelsheim/Odenwald. During that time I raised a colt at Hof Herrenberg, a famous dressage- and training centre in Germany at that time.

After living on the countryside I wanted to enjoy city life and moved to Wiesbaden. Living in Wiesbaden, I went to evening school to get my high school diploma in Frankfurt for 3,5 years. In the mornings, I worked for a lawyers firm, did some modeling jobs and the afternoons I could spend with the horses.

The passion for dressage riding came through Grand-Prix rider and trainer Karin Hahn, who gave me lessons on a four year old average talented horse.

When Lett-Off Prokat came into my life, there was nothing else on my mind but horses and riding. The times on the Margarethenhof in Bischofsheim in the dressage barn of Thomas Diehl and the training sessions during my holidays at Hof Herrenberg with Karin Hahn were the key for my professional riding career in the future.

Dressage clinics that I held in Germany, parts of Europe and the United States, client horses in training, successful training of young horses and riding successfully up to Intermediaire I level gave me recognition in my sporting- and professional life.

My great passion for horses, the dressage riding and the Oldenburg-bloodlines of horses (especially the R-blood stallions) I could ideally and in the best way of sporting and professional sense realize on my own equestrian centre, the Lindenbrunnerhof 2.

In 2012 I was awarded the GOLDENE REITABZEICHEN.
Competitive riders are honored by the Deutsche Reiterliche Vereinigung
(FN) with the Goldene Reitabzeichen when they achieve 31 victories in Advanced class (S) test in one discipline - in my case Dressage. I am proud to have achieved this on two of my stallions (Royal Court OLD and Royal Kingdom) that i trained from the first day they had a saddle on their back.

Ulf-Peter König künftig in Gold

My Dogs

Meet my dogs
Everybody fond of dogs will have great pleasure in meeting the Whippets. By chance, few years ago I met this up to that point to me unknown breed. A clients vetenarian had just imported a male Whippet from the United States. I was immediately fascinated by this beautiful, athletic animal. Even though they are elegant and fragile looking, they are quiet resistant dogs. The Whippets from the U.S. have a slightly stronger built and longer, more uphill neck than the English Whippets.
Maxwell, the bigger and lighter coloured on the video whom we all just call Maxi, is from the Sportingfield – breedline and “Suri” comes from the “Golden –Peanuts”- one of Germany`s most famous Whippet breeding station.
It is a lot of fun watching the Whippets race on our outside dressage ring.
Our 13 year old “Lui” just watches them run and play and is not amused when they sometimes run him over.

Seit Sommer 2012 gehört nun "Robby", ein aus den USA importierter Italienischer Windspiel Rüde zu meinen Hunden.

For my 40th birthday i received a stunning gift: a really cute Italian Greyhound puppy named "Robby" from the Dierking Kennel in Nebraska/USA. He has Champion bloodlines and show quality. The Italian Greyhound is the smallest in the family of gazehounds (dogs that hunt by sight). The Italian Greyhounds from the U.S. are a little bit stronger built and have more uphill and longer necks than the IG from Europe.
Robby is extremely playful, charming and tons of fun to have around.
Having these four dogs is great.

Philosophy

Philosophy riding

Every horse brings new challenges with it, has talents to develop and borders that we reach in training.

The fascination for me as most trainers in dressage riding is the build-up. You start with the longing and breaking of the young horse and the education ends at the stage where the horses talent ends.

For the dressage riding sport you need to bring along patience, discipline and a lot of passion for the horses and their needs. The horses well being and health must always be first priority.

The amount of training you set up really depends on the horse. I have trained many horses from young horse riding tests up to Intermediare I level. And no horse is like the other to train and ride – and that is what makes this sport exciting.

Every horse is unique in its looks, behaviour, learning ability, character and aura.

I personally couldn`t imagine a life without riding, training or simply not being around horses.

Thanks

Thank you

Sometimes in life you feel there is a time to say thank you for the love, support and friendship one has received in life…

First of all I want to thank my parents who have been supporting me in every way possible throughout life.

I want to thank my siblings Britta and Erik, whom I also consider to my closest friends. I am always delighted to hear from them and their great kids.

A huge thank you goes to my oldest and greatest fan, my 92 year old grandmother. She was always the first to know how the horse-show went. Sadly at the age of almost 93 years, she passed away at our home in the Odenwald.

Great thank you to my partner and trainer Tassilo Simon who supports me in every possible way.

I thank Silke Veith for everything she does for me and my horses.

I thank Frau Backe´ - our good soul on the Lindenbrunnerhof 2

Thank you to my dearest friends Heinz and Konstantin Lang from Berlin, Stephanie Dorner from Klein-Auheim, Sabrina Warnecke from Potsdam and Gabriele Simon from Gernsbach for the many years of our special friendship.

Huge thank you goes to Mr. Dr. J. Feil from the Atos – Clinic in Heidelberg. In a 10 hour operation he released me from a life in pain putting intervertebral disc prosthetics in my back. I can`t thank this excellent surgeon enough.

A very big thank you also goes to Jan Roesel from Reichelsheim. He is my physiotherapist and thanks to his motivating personality and his “know-how” he keeps me or better say – my back – in shape.   www.janroesel.de
